Okay, so I decided that I would make a triumphant return to xanga for all you who cannot read notes on facebook, and for those on facebook, I have set it up so that the xangas also go as notes on facebook. See, everybody wins!

I'll make this note short because Lauren and I are on our way out and I don't have internet in my room yet (so frustrating!). So we've been here for about two and a half days and things are starting to look familiar, which is nice. We still have to technically register and meet with what's called a Director of Studies, to be official and everything, and classes start next Tuesday (for some reason this coming Monday is a university holiday).

So anywho, we've been running around for quite a while, picking up things and finding buildings and looking for the cheapest places to buy food (what with the pound being worth two dollars and all that). Hopefully after classes start everything will calm down and we'll have a better chance to go exploring and all that.

So for now, I'll just teach you some of the British-y things we've learned (mainly words, which may or may not be spelled correctly):

- "Quid": slang for pound (the British currency for all you plebians)
- "Pants": underpants
- "Butti": sandwich (don't ask me, it makes no sense)
- "Plaster": band-aid
- "Pavement": side walk
- "Lorry": a truck
- "Suss": figure out (verb: Lauren and I have been trying to suss the layout of downtown Edinburgh)
- People naturally walk on the left-hand side of the pavement and up and down stairs (like we naturally walk on the right-hand side)
- A "stone" is 14 pounds (in weight)
- No one except Americans understand Fahrenheit
- England is just the southern part, Great Britain is the island, and the UK is the island and Northern Ireland
- The pound (£) sucks... mucho

So I think that's all I got for ya right now. Go read Lauren's xanga for more info (www.xanga.com/laurenthesmall).

Leave comments and love.
